Affiliate Program

Some of the comments on blog posts out there in the wild are asking if we have some kind of affiliate program.

    Hi Kevin,

    What are the site requirements for getting approved in the program? The main site that is on my CJ account isn't a tech one; however, there are articles that reference products that Best Buy sells. I guess I can always use an Amazon link.

    Carla,

    We don't currently have any site requirements for getting approved in the Commission Junction program. We may, at some time in the future, ask that you display a "powered by Best Buy" bug somewhere...but that's not currently a requirement. As long as you have a Commission Junction ID, you can either hand construct the proper URL that contains your ID that would land your readers on the Best Buy product detail page for the buy button, or if you pass the API the appropriate ref and loc ( ref=39 loc=02) plus your CJ ID, the API will output the appropriately formatted URL for you (see the "New Version" blog post for more information).

    We'd rather you use a Best Buy link than an Amazon link, but I guess it's up to you....:)

    "Articles that reference products that Best Buy sells" is one of the examples we used in describing potential uses for Remix, so I definitely think you qualify. We're working on some widgets that will provide product information when you hover over a link, which you might find useful if you have inline links and want to provide more information.

    Have you applied for the affiliate program yet? Let us know how it goes -- especially if you encounter any roadblocks. We want it to be as easy as possible for you.

    I did apply and it was automatically rejected. That is why I wondered what the publisher requirements were. Does it have to be on a particular topic?
